Screenings are brief, informal assessments of concerns to help determine next steps and whether or not a formal evaluation is recommended.
Evaluations are comprehensive, formal assessments including areas of concern, background information, observations, and recommendations.
Coaching empowers caregivers to support skills every day. This may include eliciting language at home, learning more about stuttering, breaking down cues and strategies from therapy, and more.
Consultations could include things like reviewing and discussing IEPs, attending meetings, advocacy, or collaboration with teachers.
Recommended session time and frequency varies based on your child's needs.
Children may be seen individually, or with siblings or peers to practice skills in a natural context.
You will often see us on the floor having fun, teaching new skills through books, play, or a favorite game. Individualized treatment plans and goals will target skills that are important to your child and family, such as:
Articulation - how speech sounds are made
Fluency - stuttering, or the rhythm of speech
Voice - strength and coordination of vocal folds (e.g. hoarseness, vocal strain, breathiness, fatigue)
Language - what a person understands (receptive) and communicates (expressive)
Pragmatic Language - communication in social situations
Gestalt Language Processing / Natural Language Acquisition - "whole to part" thinking where children acquire language in chunks (called "echolalia," "scripts," or "gestalts")
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) - communication systems that can add to or replace spoken language
Feeding - starting solids, drinking from a straw or cup, picky eaters

Herriff Speech Therapy is a private pay provider. In order to maintain the flexibility and freedom to customize therapy approaches and frequency based on your child’s needs and goals, I do not accept insurance. I am happy to provide superbills and documentation so you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement. Clients are responsible for confirming insurance coverage and handling all reimbursement.
